Quick start

Lore is a version control solution developed by Epic Games. It was launched at Unreal Fest 2026 in Chicago and is built for handling large, asset-heavy projects where systems like Git run into limitations.

Anchorpoint for Lore has been written from scratch and will replace the current Anchorpoint application. Git and metadata support will be added in upcoming versions. We are currently using Lore version 0.9. We encourage you to join our Discord server to exchange feedback with our development team.

Getting started with an existing Lore server

The most common case is to connect Anchorpoint to an existing Lore server. If you are completely new to Lore, you can also create a local Lore repository, which allows you to commit new versions and go back to previous ones.

Our philosophy

The Anchorpoint client for Lore is a standalone desktop client that allows you to push and sync files to Lore repositories. It can connect to any existing Lore server and comes with comprehensive support for viewing and comparing versions of all industry-relevant image, video, audio, code and document formats. It supports branching workflows around the concept of trunk-based development.

Version control systems are nowadays used by a vast majority of non-developers. While Lore takes away the complexity that Git LFS always brought with it, it still requires an understanding of version control concepts and the ability to operate a command line interface. Anchorpoint does not "simplify" or hide these concepts, but it makes them much more approachable. Furthermore, while Lore provides a toolset for distributing files and documenting project progress, Anchorpoint adds the next step: reviewing work and managing large assets. This includes quickly reviewing what you, your teammates and your AI agents have contributed to the project, be it code, 3D models, images, audio or video.
